tref
No issues with distortion or surface noise, but boy is this pressing lacking in any low end. Sounds awful
Kage
Setting my EQ to slightly increase the bass and a slight decrease at 2.5 khz helps this vinyl sound better. The low level its cut at isn't too much of an issue if you have a good turntable and the vinyl is kept clean.
Modar
Bought this album in a record store. Bit of a disappointment. The surface noise is incredibly noticeable through out the whole record. it comes and goes through out the album to the point of the surface noise overpowering the songs itself. I read about distortion on the call of ktulu and fade to black. No problems with distortion on mine, just surface noise. So a 2 out of 5.
fetish
Bought mine before I read any reviews, and honestly mine sounds fine. Seems like this pressing is pretty hit-or-miss though.
Anyshoun
You obviously bought the pressing released this year. This is for the 2014 pressing. Check your matrix numbers.
Rare
Who in the hell paid $49.99 for this nonsense? Metallica owes me money for buying this garbage pressing.
Kagda
So awful, thank God I sold it to a friend who couldn't tell shit from Shinola.
Zololmaran
I just received this as a gift and the volume is really low and the record was dirty right out of the sealed album.
Nalaylewe
vinyl records are all recorded at a lower volume than cd's and mp3's because they are analouge, and if you record it too loud the music distorts and starts sounding bad,you also lose sounds if it is recorded at too high a volume.the same happens with cd's and mp3's but you have a higher range, and can record at a much higher volume before that starts happening.turn it up and equalize it through speakers you should be ok.
Vispel
Man, I was thinking about picking this up until reading the comments. Guess I'll wait.
Adoranin
Huge Metallica fan but honestly this album sounds like utter shit.
Buzatus
Love the music, but the worst sounding LP I have ever bought.
Peles
LOL, I thought that I was the only one that noticed that "lack of low end". I just bought this the other day and am very disappointed. I was hoping for a proper remaster...maybe next time.
Yahm
Agree... sound is "beyond magnetic"... I noticed a lack of low end and severe distortion and it gets worse the closer you get to the insides. Call Of Ktulu and Fade To Black sound terrible... I'm gonna check the Master Of Puppets Blackened Version, but I sense it might be a similar disappointment...Is there any 1 LP Version out there that sounds good or at least halfway decent?
